C4: Days 20-23

Introducing Neon the Duck-Billed PLAIDypus. He’s Jasper’s new best friend (I’ve never witnessed the dog snuggling with a cuddly toy rather than trying to kill it before), and is very partial to cheese.

C4: Day 19 – Beachball

My balancing skills are legendary….

(photoshop skills need some work though! 😉 )

C4: Day 18 – Feet

A creative use for my toes today, fishing for mussels. Sadly these beauties are fresh water zebra mussels, which are apparently an invasive species from Europe that have taken over Canadian waters. Shame they aren’t edible as you wouldn’t need many for a meal!

C4: Day 17 – Superheroes

A rare sighting here of the superhero who has been roaming the neighbourhood of late. Apparently a placid Patterdale Terrier got into a little scuffle with a rabid racoon and woke up the next morning with strange super powers and a stripey tail.

What super powers does he possess you may well ask? Well, the power to detect squirrels at fifty paces is a given, but super-pooch-racoon ( *) can also detect the presence of a mantelpiece in a room and stare at it dedicatedly for upwards and hour for no apparent reason.

This little hero can also calculate the exact point on any given walk that is furtherst from a bin, and promptly poop there. All without the aid of a GPS.

He can clear a room with one dose of cabbagey aroma.

And finally, no matter how snug and tucked in the human, he can steal all the duvet with barely a thought, and look at you with a completely innocent look to boot.

My hero.

(*) Suggestions for an improved super-hero name will be gratefully received.

C4:Day 16 – Hipsters

Apparently it is currently hip to put birds on stuff, if the craft fayre we attended last weekend wasn’t proof enough of this fad (I think it was only the cupcakes that were free of feathered-friends, there’s a free idea!), video evidence:

Now, I am proud to say that I was well ahead of this trend (unbelievable I know), although as a bird-watcher I’m more fond of the real life twitterers than the crafted one. Anyway, today seemed like a perfect excuse to grab my trusty cardinal stencil and mend a hole in my shirt with this little patch:

(Thanks to Tara for the video link, I would have been well and truly stumped for ‘hipster’ without it!)

C4: Day 14 – Picnic

I don’t need an excuse, I love dining Al Fresco. So this evening boiled a few eggs, made flatbreads, and knocked up a pasta salad. Dinner on the island nearby, all the more successful as we managed to avoid sitting in the Canada Goose poo. Win win.

C4: Day 13 – Einstein

Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler. “

Charcoal sketch on envelope. Looking slightly more like the Queen mother with a moustache than Einstein. Oops.

C4: Day 12 – Abraham Lincoln.

Now apart from sharing initials, I know very little about this iconic figure. After a little internet research it turns out we also have a little in common in our outlooks too. Some of his gems include:

“There are no bad pictures, that is just how your face looks sometimes.”

“How many legs does a dog have if you call a tail a leg? Four. Calling a tail a leg doesn’t make it a leg.”

“And in the end it is not the years in your life that count, it is the life in your years.”

and ‘If I were two-faced, would I be wearing this one?”

I chose one of my favourites and adapted it on the fridge with my trusty alphabet magnets: (adapted due to limited letter availability!)

(All quotes are attributed to Abraham Lincoln on wholly unreliable websites, my research was not in depth in any way. But I like them whoever said them!)

C4: Day 11 – Crayons

Cracked out the crayons and as usual when I start scribbling I gravitate towards a scruffy bird. This time he came out as a chicken, perhaps a little sad, perhaps tired, maybe hungover. Anyhow, he appeared as if by magic on an old white shirt, and then I added some detail with embroidery.

He may ed up as a patch on a vest top, or maybe a pocket on something, we’ll see.

C4: Day 10 – Toast-er

I had plans for some artistic toast today, but then all the meals of the day were taken up (with yummy goodness, just not toasted yummy goodness). But then littlest sister came to the rescue and we had creative toasts with our meal.

Well semi-creative if I’m honest, frankly the ribs on our plates and the mullet on our waiter were a tad too distracting to concentrate on the mission fully.

‘Here’s to cyclists everywhere, particularly the naked ones tomorrow’. (We may be venturing into town at the same time as the naked bike ride. We will not be on bikes thouhg.
Or naked.

‘A toast to Canadian tyre bike mechanics, smelly men on helicopters and horror films staring tyres’ – Karen and Stuart really have had a wonderful visit!

Maybe we should have just toasted the mullet and had done with it.
